Herpeto Hunter CZ 1.4
The Herpeto-Hunter CZ application was created with the supportbyStudent Grant Competition of University of Ostrava. It is aproductof collective work of the Department of Biology and Ecology,theInstitute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modeling andtheDepartment of Informatics and Computers with the participationofNature Conservation Agency of the Czech republic. The ideatocreate an application for the recognition of amphibiansandreptiles was based on ongoing efforts of the entire team tocreateadditional mobile applications that would enable users torecognizeother groups of Czech animals in a simplified version.This projectwas developed in the last year mainly thanks to theabove mentionedcooperation with other experts not only in biology,but also inmathematics and computer science, such as StanislavOžana, LukášCholeva, Michaela Drgová, Marek Malina, Martin Prašek,Michal Burdaand Veronika Zavadilová. Together, we managed to createanapplication for basic identification and mapping of amphibiansandreptiles, which main purpose is not only to identify andpopularizethese groups of vertebrates and nature as a whole amongthe generalpublic, but also to involve the public in collectingdata onspecies occurrence, which is called the citizen science. Webelievethat the collected data obtained in this application willlead to ahigher awareness of the occurrence of individual speciesand theprotection of endangered species and their habitats.Theinformation used in the application was taken from: Zwach,Ivan.Naši obojživelníci a plazi ve fotografii.
